Sola Scriptura

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world- the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he says and does- comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:15-17

Clearly this passage indicates that if we both live for and love all that is worldly (eg.. Drunkeness, Licentious Behaviour, Pre or Extra-marital Sex, Money, Selfis-Ambition etc) then we most likely are not true Christians. This should be a worrying passage for anyone who is living in sin. Verse 17 shows that if we live for our desires then we will not live forever…..we must repent and turn from sin and fight against our carnal lusts and ambitions, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
