Sola Scriptura- is this prophecy being fulfilled in this current age?

Sola Scriptura

Sola Scriptura

Lets consider these “Preachers” and the titles of their books that sell by the millions to the blind sheep….Joel Osteen- Your Best Life Now…….Creflo Dollar- 8 Steps to Create the Life You Want……. Joyce Meyer- Look Great, Feel Great:12 Keys to Enjoying a Healthy Life Now……T.D. Jakes- Reposition Yourself: Living Life Without Limits.

Now lets consider the following from proper faithful Christian Pastors….. Martin Lloyd-Jones- God’s Way Not Ours…… Jerry Bridges- The Joy of Fearing God….John Piper, Justin Taylor et al- The Supremacy of Christ in a Post-Modern World……R.Kent Hughes- Disciplines of a Godly Man……. J.I.Packer- Knowing God……Mark Driscoll- Vintage Jesus…….Michael Horton- Putting Amazing back into Grace: Embracing the Heart of the Gospel.

Which of the above titles seem Man-Centred and which seem God/Christ centred?? When oh when will the church wake up to the times in which we live and start realising there are millions being conned and lied to? Yes there are many who see these deceptions for what they are…but there are masses who shockingly don’t! Surely the prophetic passage below is beginning to be fulfilled in these recent days!!!?? Maybe I am delusional for thinking this but when one seriously examines the state of modern evangelicalism….more and more Jesus Christ, the Cross, Sin and Repentance are being squeezed out of evangelical “lingo” because they are deemed offensive and exclusive! May God raise up a remnant amongst the masses who hold fast to Gods precious truths revealed in His Word and correct the error and heretical teaching despite the abuse they face from within the “church”.

“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:1-5

  1. We have to leave our church, one we thought was going to be where our children grew up. We had great ideas that our children would go on missions trips and learn to care for people all around the world in the hopes they might find what God wanted for them in service to Him. Our church, sadly, has been Warrenitized. Our pastors have been Willardized. They now speak of “god consciouness” and are often talking of “silence” rather than prayer. It’s been so subtle that it took a while for me to realize that the new age movement has come right into our church, not from the outside but from the pulpit. It’s so hard to leave, and if we didn’t have kids we’d stay and fight. We just cannot let them be exposed to false teaching unless we have no other option. At home we can counter what’s taught, but we don’t know always what is said in their classes. We have too many children to be IN their classes. Church should be a place where you can allow your children to learn and expect them to learn the truth and not a lie.

  2. i commend you for taking this stance and standing for truth…although if you and your family have decided to leave I would suggest doing so in a gracious manner. On looking for a new church let me leave you with a quote from Charles Spurgeon:

“If you wait for the perfect church, you must wait until you get to Heaven; and even if you could find a perfect assembly on earth, I am sure they would not admit you for you are not perfect yourself. Find out those people who are nearest to the Scriptures (truths of Scripture), who hold the truth in doctrine and in ordinance, and are most like the apostolic church, and then cast in your lot with them, and you will be blessed in the end”

    I hope you find a good bible-believing, gospel-proclaiming, Christ-centred, cross-centred and truth-defending church.
