Mormons are NOT Christians and Mormonism IS a CULT

Has anyone noticed the increased Mormon propaganda and advertising on the internet these days? The Mormon church is advertising like wildfire on prominent websites such as Hotmail and Thesauras Online. What are they advertising? Happiness. How to find happiness. Seems like they have gotten on board with the church marketers just like the seeker-sensitive movement of evangelicalism has. I must confess that Christian seeker-sensitive churches make me cringe when I see how indinstict their message has become from the Mormons. So what about the Mormon Advert then?

On the first page is a big picture/flash image saying “Want Happiness?” They also make the immediate claim to be Christian because they profess Christ. Ehhhhhhhhhhhh NO, NO, NO. If you are a mormon and you are reading this let me say this. Stop lieing to people. Stop trying to sell yourselves as a Christian denomination when you are in fact a cult; Mormonism does not believe in anything that historic Christianity has and still does today. You preach another Gospel other than that which is revealed in the Bible and you lie and deceive many people into joining your church. It is most likely that you, yourself haven been deceived. Please look to Christ and Christ alone not Joseph Smith or the Mormon Church.

Let me point out a few lies on the website.

1)Heavenly Father’s Plan of Happiness- On this article on the site says this; ” One of God’s gifts is the Resurrection, the reuniting of the physical body and spirit, made possible by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. After you are resurrected, you will go before God to be judged according to your works and the intents of your heart”……ehhhhh i’m sorry how can you claim to be Christian and make that claim? The Bible ACTUALLY TEACHES IN Ephesians Chapter 2:4-10;

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works,so that no one may boast.”

So that’s lie number 1. We are saved by Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Not works as the Mormons claim. Paul repeats himself in this passage to hammer home the message. Let me follow that method by emphasising once more- it is BY GRACE through FAITH in CHRIST that we are saved.

2) says this “Where did I come from? Your life did not begin at birth, nor will it end at death. You are made up of a spirit body (sometimes called the soul) and a physical body. Heavenly Father created your spirit body, and you lived with Him before you were born on earth. You knew and loved Him, and He knew and loved you”

Emmmmmmm I’m sorry where does the Bible say this? Yes life does not end at death because, man has a God-given soul that will go on for eternity. Yes God loved and knew us before he formed us in the womb. He would not be omniscient if he did not know and plan for us to come into existence. But we didnt actually exist before we were born. Only when we are born do we come into existence. We do not, as the Mormons believe, exist as spiritual children to a Father and Mother in Heaven who have non-stop celestial sex creating lots of spiritual babies to eventually send down to earth. This view is not Biblical and it is false. It is a lie from the very pits of Hell.

3). They also claim “The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is an actual record of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fullness of the everlasting gospel.”

Again this is lies. The Bible alone is God’s full and final authority in all things pertaining to salvation. The whole of Scripture points to Christ as being the Messiah and Jude 3 tells us that the faith “was once and for all delivered to the Saints.” The Mormon claim that the church went into apostasy is therefore a direct contradiction to the Bibles claim. Paul also writes in Galatians that if any man “or an angel from heaven preaches another gospel then let him be accursed”. Oh that’s right….wasn’t it the angel Moroni that appeared to Joseph Smith? Yes indeed. For the Bible also warns us in 1 Corinthians that Satan and his minions have the ability to appear as angels of light. Finally there is no archeological evidence to support the Mormon claim that Jesus appeared to the Native Americans. It is an unfounded myth. Likewise recent DNA shows that Native Americans are actually more genetically like Northern Asians (Siberia, Mongol) than the Jews, whom they claim the Native American Indians were a lost tribe of. The claim that the evidence for this is the Book or Mormon is ridiculous. It is quite convenient that Joseph Smith did not allow anyone to see the Book and an “angel” came and took the Book away. If God is the same today, yesterday and forever then why would God allow for original early Bible manuscripts to be found by archaeologists in order to support Biblical truth yet remove another testament that was so recent it could be displayed? The answer in short is that it is lies.

For now I will say no more. I have a feeling I will be posting more on this soon.

  1. It’s not lying if we think you guys jacked-up Christianity over the last couple thousand years, and it’s up to us to restore what God really intended in the first place.

You just disagree with us, that’s all. And since you aren’t self-reflective enough to admit the possibility that you might have gotten it wrong, you have to resort to defensive measures like calling us liars.

Are you really that insecure in your arguments?

Then why not let them stand for themselves? If you religion really is up to snuff, it should be able to sell itself on its own merits. No need to name-call people at all.

Words like “cult” and “liar” are really nothing more than the refuge of people unable to put a good argument together.

Quit the sissy name-calling and think about actually building an argument.

  2. Seth,

Will all due respect my friend your point is so fallacious it is unreal. You talk about putting an argument together? Did I or did I not just refute some of Mormonism’s claims using Scripture? I think the answer to that is yes. Is that an argument? Yes it is. Is it an argument that you want to go into? No. Because the Word of God is enough for the true Christian in the battle against heresy and lies.

Secondly quit with the name calling? Whats that about? Mormonism is a cult because it claims Christianity is wrong. You say we “jacked it up”. It’s up to us to restore what was lost??? Sounds like Christadelphianism and Jehovahs Witnesses and Christian Scientists as well. Don’t they say Orthodox Historical Christianity got it wrong?

I am not insecure in my arguments, I’m secure because the Word of God pierces every lie of Satan, so in having the Bible I have enough. I do not need to win an argument either. God is Lord and is Sovereign and I will let him deal with those who are leading people blindly toward hell. I dont need to say we may have gotten it wrong because scholars can trace the early manuscripts back to as early as 150 AD and before. There is absolutely no evidence for Mormon beliefs even as you claim, in the Apostolic church. No Evidence at all. I dont need to say I may have got it wrong because 2,000 years of Church History testifies to the truths of Scripture and of the Reformed Faith today.

Words like cult and liar are words that people put together when they can’t put a good argument together? What a load of nonsense. Again a classic sign of postmodern ecumenism that says taking a stand for the truth of God’s word is wrong and to say anything that is potentially “hurtful” is wrong. Cunnin Seth, cunning.

In the words of Charles Spurgeon “The light of truth must always be at war against the blackness of Heresy and Lies”. Jude 3….”Earnestly contend for the faith once and for all delivered to the saints”… Seth quit trying to avoid such Scripture as that.

“Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for MANY will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive MANY.” (Matthew 24:4-5)……Joseph Smith claimed the Messiah restored the truth to him…in other words he received the message to true messianic salvation. Christ clearly identifies it as lies.

Rom 16:17-18 “WATCH OUT (MARK THEM) for people who cause Divisions and Upset People’s Faith by TEACHING THINGS CONTRARY to (TO THE DOCTRINE) what you have been taught. STAY AWAY from them. Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own Personal Interests. By SMOOTH TALK and GLOWING WORDS THEY DECEIVE INNOCENT PEOPLE.”…………Mormons are a classic example of such people. Smooth arguments….cunning twisting of Scripture. I’ll take heed of this passage.

Jer 14:13-15 “Then I said, “O Sovereign Lord, their Prophets are telling them, ‘ALL IS WELL— NO WAR OR FAMINE WILL COME. The Lord will surely send you Peace.’” Then the Lord said, “THESE PROPHETS ARE TELLING LIES IN MY NAME. I DID NOT SEND THEM OR TELL THEM TO SPEAK. I DID NOT GIVE THEM ANY MESSAGES. THEY PROPHESY OF VISIONS AND REVELATIONS THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD. They speak FOOLISHNESS MADE UP IN THEIR OWN LYING HEARTS. Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I WILL PUNISH THESE LYING PROPHETS, for they have spoken in my name even though I NEVER SENT THEM. THEY SAY THAT NO WAR OR FAMINE WILL COME, but they themselves will DIE BY WAR AND FAMINE!”

On September 1, 1842, Joseph Smith said, “…for to this day has the God of my fathers delivered me out of them all, and will deliver me from henceforth; for behold, and lo, I shall triumph over all my enemies, for the Lord God hath spoken it.” (Doctrine and Covenants, 127:2). The last phrase “for the Lord God hath spoken it,” indicates that this is prophecy. Here, Smith has prophesied that God would allow him to “triumph” over all his enemies. Less than two years later, these same enemies stormed the Carthage, Illinois jail where Smith was imprisoned and shot him dead. Smith tried to fight back, shooting 3 of his assailants and killing 2 with a pistol smuggled in to him, but his “enemies” triumphed. This is a false prophecy. By the litmus test, we have already shown Smith to be a false prophet. Theres more where that came from aswell, but for the sake of space i’ll refrain from typing them up.

Listen…..i’m not bashing you or any Mormon. But if you say a lie I will stand up and say it to be so. The things on the Mormon website are lies and I am saying it straight. Whether you like that or not is not my problem. It’s yours. I plead that you would seek the face of Christ in repentance and sincerity. My friend I am a sinner just like you saved by the grace of God and my Lord Jesus Christ. My God is eternal, and through him are all things. He is the only God…..not one of many. Christ is God also. 3 in 1. My father in heaven is not of flesh and bone as Mormons believe. He is Spirit. Christ himself said this yet you continue to undermine and deny the words of Christ. How i weep and cry for the souls of those in the Mormon church who have been so blindly deceived.

  3. The Pilgrim,

Thanks for the link. It’s very useful and encouraging to know you guys are compiling material for that resource. Christians need it in this day and age.

See you over on DefCon soon!
